Once I was riding alone, I turned into a tree area. Nothing surpasses a nice fresh powder tree ride! Curving through the snow covered firs I saw two little trees framing a small natural untouched kicker... I knew I oughtn't even think about that, but I was bewitched by the idea. I took the same chairlift again and went to the spot. The approach to the kicker was narrowed by trees so I had not enough room to brake. With a banked speed (not really fast, but too fast) and a pretty cloud of snow I shoot over the (actually tiny) kicker.
Probably it was the nose of my snowboard what has touched the ground first. Anyway still joining the flying snow cloud I felt how something grabbed my feet, turned me in the air and smashed me down to the bottom twisting my right knie. I turned on my back unbending the twisted knee. Lying there for couple minutes I was considering what is worse, the pain or the fact that the painful crash has happened under the chairlift... full of spectators! I decided the latter was. After a while my knee has recuperated and I had a wonderful day on regular slopes. On the next day I limped to the english school. From then it would be three weeks, I couldn't go snowboarding... oh, I've missed so many awesome days! Shit happens.
Another day (couple weeks later) I hiked up the Symphony Bowl. The day was sunny and warm, therefore the snow was sticky with no fun to ride. There is no Lift to Symphony and because of warm snow conditions nobody hiked up. It is a very special feeling to stay alone on the snow covered mountain with 360 degree long range view on snow covered mountains!
One of the most visited events is the annual Tellus Festival in April. I think the newspaper has reported over 100.000 visitors at the Big Air competition night. However from all I saw just the Big Air and the Big Pipe competitions. The folowing links give some insight into what has been going on.
